Years UBM have operated

2013 onwards.

Overview

For nearly 30 years ‘Tell-a-Tourist’ has been sharing the good news of Jesus with people from all over the world in the historic city of Chester. Often the team would speak to people from up to 70 different countries. Tell-a-Tourist provided an opportunity for people of all ages to have a taste of World Mission without leaving the UK.

However, there was no-one to take on this wonderful outreach after the T-a-T leader felt it was time to move onto other ministries. He had been leading the teams for most of those 30 years. Therefore there was no team in 2012. When UBM found out about this, it approached the T-a-T committee and to cut a long story short, we are delighted to take on the opportunity from 2013 – although it will be for 1 week rather than 2.

Inevitably things won't run exactly the same as in previous years – although UBM is grateful to all the advice and help received from those involved in the past. There will be plenty of scope to chat with people of different races and religions. There are also many British holiday makers and thousands of local people. It is expected that the week will consist of such activities as:

  • An exhibition stand and literature table inside Chester Cathedral.

  • Open air work consisting of visual aided talks on the board, sharing testimonies and personal 1-1 conversations.

  • Possible evening coffee bars at the over 1000 year old St Peter's Church.

  • Making conversations with tourists using questionnaires.

  • Distributing Gospels and Christian leaflets in over 50 languages.

As well as the witness there will be great times of fellowship and training as a team.
